After four years of hospital nursing, Jan elected to explore an avenue for combining medicine, music and spirituality. During the 1980s, she created and established comprehensive expressive arts programs serving over 300 families at Turtle Bay Music School in New York, and founded the music therapy/music in medicine program at Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine, NYU Medical Center. In 1989, she was invited to develop and conduct similar curriculums, including comprehensive healing arts programs for St. John School of the Arts (SJSA), USVI where she also served as Executive Director from 2006 - 2011.

In 1996, she founded the Mind Body Health Institute in New Jersey, providing seminars, lectures and sessions in mind body medicine/Ayurveda, meditation and sound healing. From 2000 – 2011, in collaboration with Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort, USVI, Jan established the Self Centre International at Caneel.  After eleven inspiring years, the center relocated to southern Florida.

As a conference presenter and professional speaker, she has served various populations in hospital/medical settings; corporations; universities; yoga, meditation and wellness centers; and the private sector. Mindbodyspirit interrelatedness and quality of life remain the themes of Jan’s personal and professional life.
